Ultimate Sadguru: His Holiness Gurumauli
God being Supreme is always present in the universe. No one has understood so far of how this eternally happens to be so ages after ages. This unimaginable and infinite form is nothing but saint Satguru’s holiness (In Sanskrit, Sat = True, Guru = Teacher). A human cannot explain what God is . But he can’t refrain from describing Him. He tries to use ‘Sky, Earth, Water, Ocean’ to explain God but all these efforts go in vain. At last, he stops telling that nothing can describe God. how is the Satguru (as a person)? Samarth Ramdas Swami tells ‘Maya’ (illusion) cannot touch the form of a Satguru. All our knowledge is limited under this orbit of ‘Maya’. Therefore, it is impossible for ignorant people like us to understand the form of Satguru. That’s why even Shruti cannot describe Satguru. It says ‘neti neti’ (it is a Sanskrit expression which means ‘not this, not this’, or ‘neither this, nor that’). Where Shruti cannot describe Satguru so ordinary people like us as well cannot describe Satguru’. I bow to Satguru from away as I cannot think the form of a Satguru. He says, “Hey Gurudeva, please take me beyond the sphere of ‘Maya’. People pray to God as per their imagination of God. I respectfully bow to God according to rules!” He occupies the entire universe yet remains, Hailing to Satguru who is an original man and friend of a poor & helpless! Samarth Ramdas Swami has beautifully explained that Satguru has no simile.
1. Darkness is destroyed by Sunshine, similarly a person who gets Satguru’s blessings gets rid of the domination of ‘Maya’. This simile does not apply here because when sunset occurs and its light disappears, darkness fills the universe again. Satguru’s blessings are not like this, it uproots the ignorance & lack of knowledge.
2. If gold gets spoiled, it does not become a piece of iron. A mind of a Satguru devotee is so pure that it never bears any dilemma or doubt in it
3. Iron becomes gold after the touch of ‘Paris’. But with this gold, Another iron piece cannot be coverted into gold. It means ‘Paris’ does not transfer its unique quality to iron but a truly devoted disciple of Satguru preaches other people and becomes the messiah. It means a disciple gets qualities of Guru and becomes Guru. Therefore, the simile of a ‘Paris’ does not apply to Satguru.
4. We cannot call Satguru an ocean or sea because its water is salty. Even if we take an example of the sea of sweetened milk (Dudhsagar). As it spoils eventually, this simile falls short to describe Satguru. Ultimate Satguru Shree Swami Samarth Seva 21 || July- September 2019
5. It is not right, if we say Satguru is like ‘Meru’ mountain. Because this mountain is lifeless and emotionless. But Satguru is full of life, kind-hearted.
6. If we give simile of ‘Sheshanaag’ (snake) to Satguru, then it is incorrect because ‘Sheshnaag’ carries the load on his head whereas Satguru does not carry any load.
7. If we give simile of Water to Satguru, then it is not right. Because water evaporates after some time. But we cannot foget the knowledge given by Satguru. so this simile falls very short to describe Satguru.
8. If we call Satguru like a ‘Kalpataru’ (it is a wish-fulfilling divine tree in Hindu mythology). Then it is not right because this tree gives only what we ask for. But Satguru is beyond human imagination. As a matter of fact, we need to cross all imaginations to reach to Satguru.
9. If we call satguru like a ‘Chintamani’ ( it is a wish-fulfilling jewel within both Hindu and Buddhist traditions) then it is incorrect because ‘Chintamani’ is important to those who have worries. But Satguru’s true disciple has no worries in his mind.
10. Heaven, Lord Indra’s place & their prosperity eventually may get destroyed but Satguru’s blessings never get destroyed. So this simile is not enough to describe Satguru. Satguru’s presence in our life is indestructible. Entire nature is perishable so we cannot give any metaphor from the world to Satguru due to his eternal form. ‘Panchamahabhuta’ cannot interfere in the form of Satguru. All of the above examples prove only one thing that ‘Nothing Can Describe Satguru’, is the only description of Satguru. Stable and omniscient disciple can experience etenal form of Satguru. Only these people can understand the symbols of Satguru who are intrinsic. Shree Satguru is theologian. He is not different than the supreme soul. God is imperceptible, inconceivable, invisible and cannot be located but true disciple can experience the God because of Satguru’s blessings. We cannot get the treasure of selfform without Satguru. That is why one should seek Satguru’s blessings. A person actions (Karma)withoutself-consciousness and that’s why he needs to take more and more births, therefore, one must surrender to Satguru’s holy feet to seek divine and true knowledge. Our Birth will be a waste if we cannot meet Satguru. Life becomes painful, if Satguru’s blessings are not with us. Once Satguru blesses us then all worries from the life vanishes. This is how Samarth has described the Satguru in the Daasbodh.
