Environmental protection message through thousands of ‘Plastic-Free Akash Kandil’ making on the eve of Diwali Festival – An initiative by Value Education Cell of Akhil Bharatiya Shri Swami Samarth Gurupeeth, Trimbakeshwar.

The Value Education and Youth Empowerment Cell of Akhil Bhartiya Shri Swami Samarth Gurupeeth, Trimbakeshwar, have organized Mass Level Paper ‘Akash Kandil’ Making Activity on 1.10.2019 in Nagpur. This activity was conducted under the guidance of His Holiness Gurumauli and Honorable Shri Nitin Bhau More.  Students from Shree Swami Seva Kendra as well as from various schools in Nagpur participated in this activity.

The Diwali festival is celebrated with enthusiasm all over India. “Akash kandil’ usually made from plastic and firecrackers are purchased on this occasion which causes serious harm to the environment.  Value education cell has set a goal to raise awareness about Cracker Free and Environment-Friendly Diwali Celebration by preparation of ‘Akash Kandil’ made from paper with slogans in that context. Since these ‘Akash Kandil’ made by students were absolutely plastic-free, it was significant contribution to the concept of ‘Plastic Mukt Bharat’ and inspiration to others for plastic free celebrations of festivals. Students took home these handmade ‘Akash Kandil’ after the activity, it gave them an opportunity to express their creativity. Hence Value Education and Youth Empowerment Cell hereby appeal to various schools in and around the Nagpur for active participation in this social campaign for environmental awareness.
